Most people experience acne at some time in their life. Acne usually begins during adolescence but often continues into adulthood. Hormone fluctuations that occur during puberty, the menstrual cycle, and times of increased stress can trigger the enlargement and blockage of the oil-producing sebaceous glands in the skin. In acne patients an abnormal amount of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria multiply within these enlarged sebaceous glands, and trigger inflammation resulting in the formation of blackheads, pimples and pustules on the face and body. In addition to producing painful, unsightly acne lesions, cystic acne can also leave permanent scars on the face and body with physical and emotional consequences.

Some of our effective acne treatments are described below.

Thermage Acne and Acne Scar Treatments

A series of two or more Thermage treatments can dramatically reduce acne and acne scarring by using Radiofrequency energy to permanently reduce the number of sebaceous glands in the skin while stimulating collagen production. Thermage can be used to treat acne and acne scars on the face and other body areas. Typically two Thermage treatments are performed one month apart to produce long lasting acne improvement. Levulan (ALA) Photodynamic Acne Treatments
