VaserSmooth For Cellulite

The Latest Minimally Invasive Cellulite SolutionVaser Lipo logo image

VASERsmooth technology is only available with the new VASER Lipo® System and provides an additional application for the already versatile body contouring device. The accompanying VASERsmooth kit includes a specially designed handpiece and set of probes that selectively emulsify superficial fatty tissue and cut the hardened fibrous septae responsible for skin dimpling and contour irregularities, which is more commonly referred to as cellulite.LOUISVILLE, Colo., July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Sound Surgical Technologies, a Colorado-based company that prides itself on a solid reputation for high quality, effective body shaping products and reliable service, announced the launch of VASERsmooth, the latest minimally invasive cellulite solution to hit the aesthetic market.

Early investigators of the technology are impressed with the results they have achieved and are finding that VASERsmooth is almost twice as fast as some of the other technologies currently on the market. Triple Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. David Broadway, has been performing VASERsmooth procedures in his Lone Tree, Colorado Surgery Center for 2 months and is enthusiastic about the potential of VASERsmooth technology for long term cellulite reduction.

“I am very excited about the early results we are seeing with VASERsmooth technology. The procedure is several times faster than the Cellulaze™ treatment, and the physician gets real time, tactile feedback on the release of the fibrous septae. Thus far, the early results appear to be quite comparable to the results we are seeing with Cellulaze,” says Dr. Broadway.

Dr. Peter B. Fodor, a Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Los Angeles, California, is also optimistic about VASERsmooth and has already seen the dramatic impact this treatment can have on his patients. “My early surgical experience with VASERsmooth to treat cellulite is very promising. The first patient we treated is approximately eight weeks post-op. She is very happy with her results and is wearing shorts in public for the first time in many, many years. She told us she feels like a teenager. I am looking forward to additional experience with the technique to define the role of VASERsmooth in our practice and for plastic surgery in general.”

VASERsmooth is the newest addition to a complete line of body shaping accessories and systems now available from Sound Surgical Technologies. After being a single product company for twelve years, the company has rapidly expanded with five new product lines in the past eighteen months and has established itself as a technology leader in the aesthetic industry. The company’s solid reputation for high quality, effective products and reliable service has made it the clear choice for many physicians.

“We are excited to add a minimally invasive cellulite solution to our growing list of body shaping and body contouring product lines. With the addition of VASERsmooth, Sound Surgical Technologies has truly become that one stop shop for physicians,” says Dan Goldberger, CEO of the company. “Body shaping is our business. We focus all of our efforts on developing innovative technologies that work and providing superior support to our customers. It’s a formula that we have found to be very successful.”

Liposuction: Legitimate Health Benefits

Liposuction may help your Heart

Surprising drop in triglycerides seen even in normal weight patients

Liposuction-for-tummy photoLiposuction patients are usually after one thing: a better-looking body. But a new study suggests the cosmetic procedure that removes fat from well-padded areas of the body may also reduce harmful fat circulating in the blood.

Research to be presented Sunday at the annual meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in Denver was aimed at measuring triglyceride levels in 229 people having liposuction. In people with normal triglyceride levels, cosmetic surgery made no difference. But among people who started out with high triglycerides, blood tests taken three months after surgery showed a 43% reduction in triglycerides.

That’s about twice the reduction people usually get by taking cholesterol-lowering medications. There was no change in other cholesterol or glucose levels.

The study, led by Dr. Eric Swanson, a plastic surgeon in Leawood, Kan., also found that white blood cell counts fell 11% after liposuction. White blood cells are linked to inflammation in the body and are associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

It’s not known how long the reduction in triglycerides lasts, however, and whether the surgery can actually lower the risk of heart disease. Moreover, the study raises questions about which types of fat in the body are really harmful.

“For years, it has been assumed that visceral fat surrounding the internal organs has greater metabolic importance and is more directly linked to cardiovascular disease and diabetes risk than ‘subcutaneous fat’ that lies under the skin,” Swanson said in a news release. “These new findings support recent studies suggesting subcutaneous fat, which can be reduced by liposuction, is just as metabolically important.”

What is Vaser Lipo?

How does it differ from traditional liposuction?

Every body type has areas that are predisposed to fat storage and even with rigorous diet and exercise those unwanted bulges often persist.

VASER Lipo is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, VASER Lipo uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body. What distinguishes the VASER Lipo procedure is its ability to differentiate targeted fat from other Patented VASER® technology for eliminating unwanted fat, revealing a smooth new shape with fast recovery.

important tissues – such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. Innovative VASER technology breaks up fat while preserving these other important tissues to promote smooth results and rapid healing.

How does VASER Lipo work?

First, the area to be reshaped is filled with a tumescent saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (to minimize blood loss and reduce bruising). This solution wets and fills the area to be treated, making it easier to break up fatty tissue with the VASER Lipo System’s ultrasound energy. Then a small probe transmits sound energy to break up (liquefy) fat on contact while preserving other important tissues. Finally, the liquefied fat is removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimize trauma to surrounding tissue structures such as nerves, blood vessels and other connective tissues.

What body areas can be treated with VASER Lipo?

Doctors have experienced great success in treating all of the following areas: abdomen, thighs, knees, ankles, calves, buttocks, hips, back, arms, male and female breasts, love handles, chin, face and just about any other body part you need treated.

How much fat can be taken? Can you treat multiple areas at once?

VASER Lipo allows physicians to treat multiple body areas at one time. A doctor will be able to give you a better idea of what is right for you and how much fat will be taken out during your procedure. Bear in mind that this procedure is not intended as a weight loss solution. The goal is to create a slimmer silhouette. You may not notice a significant amount of weight loss, but you should be pleased with your slimmer new shape.

Where is VASER® Lipo performed?

VASER Lipo can be performed in a doctor’s office under local anesthesia (awake). You and your physician will decide the best type of treatment for you.

How soon will I see my results? What is the recovery time?

This varies with the extensiveness of the procedure-the amount of fat removed, the number of areas treated, and so on. Many patients report that they see results immediately after the procedure with the final result at around 3 to 6 months. It is important that you establish realistic expectations through discussion with your doctor.

What about future weight gain / fat migrating to other areas?

This is a common misperception. Following your VASER Lipo procedure, should you experience weight gain or loss, it will tend to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Once you have fat removed, it is gone and, assuming a healthy lifestyle of proper diet and exercise, it will not return or migrate. However, because fat is necessary to a healthy body, some essential fat layers in any given area remain untreated. If you do gain a significant amount of weight, the remaining fatty tissue will expand. Normal aging changes can also be expected.

How can I be certain VASER Lipo is right for me?

If you are frustrated by the resistance of certain body areas to diet and exercise, VASER Lipo can provide a solution. If you are healthy and seeking a fast, low-pain solution to losing stubborn fat deposits, the VASER Lipo procedure could be your answer. Although there are limits to the amount of fat that can be removed, your doctor can assist you with your decision about potential areas for sculpting, anticipated results, and the recovery process.

How much does the treatment cost?

VASER Lipo is an advanced procedure and without an in-person consultation and evaluation of the areas to be treated, it is impossible to provide an accurate estimate for the procedure. The total cost of your treatment will vary depending upon the number of body areas treated and the extensiveness of the procedure.

Liposuction: A Very Popular Procedure

(See Vaser Liposuction and SmartLipo)

Liposuction-before-after photoLiposuction is one of the most popular procedures in the United States. Liposuction, or lipoplasty, was the second most popular cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the United States, according to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Breast enlargement surgery was the most common cosmetic surgery procedure. For many people, it’s a quick fix for problem areas and one of the easiest ways to get instant gratification.

Liposuction is truly designed to treat the areas that don’t improve with diet and exercise. It’s not for weight loss; it’s not to remove large volume areas; it’s not so you can go from a size 12 dress to a size 2. Simply put, liposuction removes excess fat from the body, improving contours and proportion.

In today’s high-tech world, several technologies and techniques have emerged to assist in the liposuction process. Tumescent liposuction is the most commonly used liposuction technique in which two to three times the amount of liquid to the amount of fat is injected in the fat compartment to be suctioned. The fluid reduces blood loss and bruising and makes the process easier and more effective.

Other techniques involve adding laser or ultrasound energy to break down or liquefy fat, which can also help to improve suction and removal.

While liposuction is performed on many different parts of the body, it’s not a weight-loss solution. It’s for those of us who have areas of fat that just don’t go away with exercise and healthy eating habits.

What is the process to get the procedure? Really, it can be broken down into four-steps:

STEP 1. The consultation. When you’re ready to move forward with a liposuction procedure, the first step is the consultation. This is the time when you find out firsthand what your specific liposuction surgery may entail, inducting preparation, recovery and results. The details will vary depending on body type and medical history.

STEP 2. Making the appointment. (This step is the easiest!)

STEP 3. Procedure time! Generally, the first thing a surgeon does is to inject a solution into the treatment area. The solution contains salt water and epinephrine, which shrinks blood vessels and helps to decrease the bleeding and bruising. It also generally contains a local anesthetic to minimize pain.

Fat removal is performed using a thin tube called a cannula that is attached to a vacuum device. Once the fluid has been injected, a small cut is made near the target area, the tube is inserted into the area of excess fat, the vacuum pump is attached and the fat is removed.

STEP 4. Recovery. Liposuction is an outpatient surgery and recovery is generally rapid. Most people can return to all normal activities within a few days.

Of course, the question on everyone’s mind is, once liposuction has been performed, does the fat come back? The simple answer: No. The fat cells are removed permanently, so if you gain weight after the surgery it won’t come back in that place. The procedure won’t prevent weight from returning in other parts of the body, however.
